WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING METHODOLOGY?

I place a heavy emphasis on force free, fear free, reward-based training where focus is centred on reinforcing positive behaviours in order for them to be offered more frequently. Building motivation and engagement is essential for success and I champion the idea of 'Teamwork over Tension'. Some trainers may encourage simply ignoring unwanted behaviours, however, I will show you how to be proactive and prevent their occurrence in the first place, alongside coach alternative desirable behaviours. 

ARE THERE ANY BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES YOU DO NOT WORK WITH?

I do not work with human-directed or dog-directed aggression as this is not an area of my expertise, however I can recommend local professionals who do.

I specialise in Child-Dog Interactions, Puppy Training and Development, Recall, Loose Lead Walking, and Rescue Dogs.

WHAT DO YOU DO DIFFERENTLY THAN OTHERS IN YOUR FIELD?

Rather than one-off sessions, I offer bespoke comprehensive programs which are personalised to your individual dog and training goals. I do not see the value in spending your time training a skill which will not contribute to your dog's future success or benefit your household, so instead, I will consider what will be useful and discuss how we can best implement it. This is such a fantastic way of working to ensure I am meeting your requirements and setting realistic goals. During training, you receive support between sessions with a 'No Such Things as a Silly Question Policy' - I am delighted when I receive progress photos and videos!

or my online clients, I provide personalised PowerPoint presentations specific to the weekly topics that you will be sent after sessions alongside the video and audio recordings for your reference. These will be yours to keep for life.

All clients receive a unique Training Pack, follow-up notes, relevant handouts, and E-Books on a wide range of topics. This is particularly beneficial when children are in the home in order to give you something to review as a family and remind everyone how to best progress with your training.

SHOULD I PHYSICALLY DISCIPLINE MY DOG?

In short, no. 

Disciplining a dog does not show them what is desired within a given situation, or how to handle their emotions. The use of punishment only serves to suppress a behaviour, often temporarily, which causes distress. Whilst this may appear to work, "quick fix" methods focused on disciplining behaviours you do not want to see have been evidenced to result in weaker attachments between dog and caregiver. It has been shown time and time again that such behaviours will often reappear later in life - typically to a far more intense degree - and there can be a serious bite risk as a result of frustrations or fear.

 

If you are in desperation with your dog, I would be delighted for the opportunity to support you in switching your mindset and looking for the positives you see in your dog, over focusing on the negatives.

WHAT IS THE REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?

Refunds and Cancellations:

  • Refunds may not be given for any cancellations unless a session, course or program is cancelled at minimum 14 days prior to the start date (as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015). We may be able to transfer or defer your service to another date, but this is at the discretion of Dogable Dog Training. Failure to notify us of a cancellation within this time frame will result in no refund.

  • Failure to attend a session, course or program that you have booked a place on, but not yet paid for, will result in a request for full payment which you agree to be liable for.

  • When working outside, there will be no refund for cancellations due to lack of vaccination for your puppy, unless we are notified 14 days in advance of the course commencing. It is your responsibility to have your puppy fully vaccinated and health warranted.

  • There will be no partial refunds for missed sessions. All other cancellation and refund requests are at the discretion of Dogable Dog Training and dependent on individual circumstances. Any missed sessions will always be rescheduled at the next availability.

  • If you are an in-person client and become unwell, we can move your physical session to a virtual session – if this is suitable.

  • In the instance of poor weather conditions, sessions may be offered at your home or online. If neither of these options are suitable for the training goals, in-person sessions will be rescheduled at the next suitable availability. Catch-Up Calls via Zoom will be offered to all clients booked during a time of severe weather in order to provide the support they require. These do not count as a session.
